Pulling from eastern philosophy and my own experiences.
Life is like a river, metaphorically.
Lots of stuff coming at you, and it doesn't seem to stop.
There are rapid and eddies, but it continues to flow.
You could be the sand that compromises the bank. Watching from afar, but the river will erode you and pull you in.
You could be the rock in the middle, resting firmly on the river bed. The river will erode you and pull you in over a long enough time scale.
You could be the fish and say "wow, there is water here. this is great. I can swim".
Keep it simple..
