Something that's been on my mind for a while.
How to solve the quest for world peace.
Before I begin I would like to say I'm not here to convert anyone to any religion. I'm only offering a solution to the biggest problem in humanity.
First - love thyself & Learn the teachings of the Buddha
How can you love someone else if you do not love yourself first.
The Buddha taught that to realize enlightenment, a person must develop two qualities: wisdom and compassion. Wisdom and compassion are sometimes compared to two wings that work together to enable flying, or two eyes that work together to see deeply.
In the West, we're taught to think of "wisdom" as something that is primarily intellectual and "compassion" as something that is primarily emotional, and that these two things are separate and even incompatible. We're led to believe that fuzzy, sappy emotion gets in the way of clear, logical wisdom. But this is not a Buddhist understanding; understand the symbiotic nature of the two and realize that they are one in the same.
Second – Love thy neighbor. - "Get to Know the teachings of Jesus"
"Love thy neighbor" is not as hard as it looks on the surface. It simply means respecting others and regarding their needs and desires as highly as we regard our own. Keeping this commandment, however, is likely to require the supernatural assistance only a Supreme Being can give.
How can we learn to love the people next door with the barking dog, especially when we don't even like them? Perhaps the secret is to recognize that our neighbor, whether it's the guy next door, the checker at the local grocery store, or the Sunday school teacher at church, is someone as worthy of The Architects love as you or I. In The Message paraphrase of the Bible, John 1:14 is expressed as follows:
The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.
Could it be that the way we love our neighbor is through getting to know Christ, the living Word of God? It's human nature to emulate those we admire most, so in getting to know Christ, we'll discover a God worthy of our whole-hearted love, and our neighbor will see that love in us.
Another pure way to love thy neighbor is to help children in need.
Third - Forget about church doctrine.
Study “THE SCRIPTURES” of your chosen faith, throw out the illogical dogmas the plague the great faiths of the world. Study your faith at the core or the heart of it's teaching whether you be Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Catholic, Baptist and so on. Forget about “Denominations”. When you get to the heart of all the sacred teachings you will find that there is only one teaching that we need in life in order to be happy and live in harmony with one another and that answer is “LOVE” or “COMPASSION”. Set aside your differences. Not to say that conflict will not arise at some point in time but realize during conflict you can still find and give “Compassion” through understanding, through caring, through loving. Study the major religions of the world at their core being and you will find Love at the core if every faith and that they are all one in the same
