AlphaNumbers - Is The English Alphabet Encoded?

Gematria is a form of divination most notably practiced by the ancient Hebrew mystics or Kabbalists. It is a form of numerology, in a sense, as the characters comprising the Hebrew alphabet also served as symbols of their numbering system. In other words, every letter was also a number. Therefore any word automatically generated a number.
For example, in the Hebrew gematria system, the familiar YHVH (the 4-letter name of God) has an alphanumeric value of 26 (Y=10, H=5, V=6). The Greeks used a similar system. The Greeks, in fact, would intentionally manipulate the spellings of certain words so that the alphanumeric value of the word in question would be a number that had some religious, spiritual, or otherwise esoteric significance. For example, the Greek spelling of the name, JESUS, generates a numerical value of 888.
For reasons too complex to elaborate here, this triple number held a high degree of significance for the Greek mystics. It is considered by some that these alphabets are somehow encoded, that their construction and corresponding letter values have been somehow programmed into those particular alphabetic systems. This notion, of course, begs the question: who was the programmer? God? Some advanced extraterrestrial beings? Who? And did this programmer encode any other alphabets? Perhaps the English alphabet? Gematria purists are quick to dismiss that idea. However, they may want to rethink their position on the issue. There are some compelling reasons to suspect there might be more to the English alphabet than previously thought. We'll explore some of those reasons in this article.
The Mystery of the Number 9
Before launching into our exploration of the English alphabet code a brief mention about the mystery of the number 9 is in order because, as we shall see later, the number 9 is embedded (encoded?) within the structure of the English alphabet.
Since ancient times the number 9 has held a significant place in the so-called canon of sacred numbers. "Sacred Numbers" are those numbers that have found their way into all sorts of religious writings and sacred traditions around the world.
For example, the numbers 666, 153, and 144,000 are familiar to many of us as they are mentioned in the Bible.1 There are other numbers from other sources such as the number 432 and it's extended forms of 432,000 and 432,000,000. These are mathematical expressions of cycles of time from the ancient Vedic texts of Hindu tradition.2 One thing all of these numbers have in common is that they are multiples of the number 9:
666 = 9 x 74
153 = 9 x 17
144 = 9 x 16
432 = 9 x 48
The ancient Mayans spoke of the Nine Lords of Time. The Greeks told of the 9 Muses, the daughters of Zeus who presided over the arts of music and poetry. Occult traditions speak of the Nine Unknown Men and the celestial Council of Nine. Norse mythology tells of the god, Odin, the ruler of the nine worlds. In the Catholic practice of Novenas, prayer services last nine nights. Mythologist, Joseph Campbell, tells us the number 9 is traditionally associated with the Goddess Mother of the World.3
While these are just a few of the many examples of the number 9 found within the world's sacred writings and mythologies, they are sufficient to illustrate the idea that the number 9 has long been venerated, perhaps, as the most important of all sacred numbers.
Cracking the English Alphabet Code
This exploration will assume a straight serial code for the English alphabet. This simply means A=1, B=2, C=3 and so on through to Z=26. Using this code, we find this interesting alphanumeric calculation:
CODE = 27 (C = 3, O = 15, D = 4, E = 5. Therefore 3+15+4+5 = 27)
The reason that this is interesting with regard to our working hypothesis is that the number 27 is incorporated, invisibly, into the very structure of the alphabet. It is revealed by literally folding the alphabet in half (by some coincidence, HALF=27).
A good way to understand this is to imagine the letters of the alphabet written along a strand of ribbon. Then simply fold the ribbon in half, between the M and the N, and bring the two ends together. Now you see the letter A pairs up with Z. The letter B pairs up with Y, and so on. Here are the 13 combinations (with their combined alphanumeric values):
AZ = 27, BY= 27, CX= 27, DW= 27, EV= 27, FU= 27,
GT= 27, HS= 27, IR= 27, JQ= 27, KP= 27, LO= 27, MN= 27
Remarkably, the alphanumeric sum of each pair of letters is 27. This number reduces to the single digit of 9 by what is called "cross addition." In other words, adding the two digits together: 2+7=9.
Now, using our English Alphabet Code, we discover something else that appears to underscore our hypothesis. Let us take the numbers 0 through 9 and convert them into the words ZERO through NINE and calculate the alphanumeric values of those words:
ZERO=64, ONE=34, TWO=58, THREE=56, FOUR=60,
FIVE=42, SIX=52, SEVEN=65, EIGHT=49, NINE=42
The sum of those alphanumeric values is 522, which reduces to 9 (5+2+2). This author has incorporated these word-numbers into a table (the "AlphaNumber Table"). A complete and detailed analysis of this table can be seen at:
One of the significant findings from this table is that these word-numbers (what the author calls "AlphaNumbers") can be separated into sets. Each set is defined by the number of letters in each AlphaNumber.
For example, the 3-letter set is comprised of the "AlphaNumbers" ONE, TWO, SIX. Another set is the 4-letter set. It is comprised of the "AlphaNumbers" FOUR, FIVE, NINE. The AlphaNumber, ZERO, also contains 4 letters but it is not included in the set for reasons discussed on the aforementioned web page. It is interesting to note that these two sets reveal even more support for our hypothesis. Using our English Alphabet Code we find the following:
ONE TWO SIX = 144 = 9
FOUR FIVE NINE = 144 = 9
In esoteric lore, the number 144 (a harmonic of the sacred number 144,000) is associated with the concept of Light. Curiously enough, legend has it that the Great Pyramid was originally covered with 144,000 sheets of highly polished limestone causing the pyramid to shine like a light in the desert as it reflected the light of the sun.
Using our code we find this:
THE LIGHT NUMBER = 162 = 9
Notice the number 162 is composed of the numerals 1, 6, and 2. Converted into "AlphaNumbers", they are ONE, SIX, and TWO. As we saw earlier,
ONE SIX TWO = 144.
It seems as if the numerical value of 9 is woven into the fabric of the cloth that is produced from the loom of our English Alphabet Code.
NINE IS THE KEY = 144 = THE SECRET KEY
In classic Gematria, it is thought that words and/or phrases that have identical numerical values are in some way related, even if the relationship is not clearly recognized at the surface level of everyday meaning.
Here are some more examples of that idea found by using the English Alphabet Code:

Not all of this code work results in numerical values that reduce to 9. Other non-9 alphanumeric equations (i.e., words and/or phrases with equal values) can be just as intriguing in terms of the synchronicity displayed between the two sides of the equation.
Here is a prime example:
JESUS = 74 = LUCIFER
Is it mere coincidence that the names of the two primary Christian icons of opposing spiritual forces share the same number? Maybe. But wait. There's more.
If both Jesus and Lucifer are associated with the same number then we have a simple mathematical equation: 74 + 74 = 148.
Why is this significant? Because we also find this:
MORNING STAR = 148
Is it mere coincidence that both Jesus and Lucifer are associated with the "Morning Star" in the Bible?
But wait. There's more.
A common ritualistic practice among so-called Satanists is to reverse traditional religious symbols such as the Christian cross.
CROSS = 74 = JESUS = LUCIFER
The idea of reversal or opposition (thus anti) is a key element behind the whole concept. If we reverse the number 74, turning it into 47, we find the two numbers combined (74+47) gives a sum of 121.
Why is 121 significant? Because we also find this:
My exploration of the possibility that the English alphabet might be encoded began over ten years ago, a period in my life when I was experiencing a string of curious synchronicities. At the time I did not know about the ancient system of divination known as gematria. Otherwise I would simply have referred to this work as English Gematria.
However, as the work progressed it seemed necessary to give the work a name so I chose the term CryptoNumerology. I recognized straight away that I was using the same "code", if you will, that is used in traditional numerology, i.e., straight serial numbering from A=1 through Z=26. However, it also became clear that what I was doing was not traditional numerology. I was going in a somewhat different direction. It seemed as if the work had the potential of revealing "hidden" connections between certain words and phrases. Thus, I attached the prefix, "crypto", to "numerology" to denote the concepts of codes and hidden meanings and/or hidden connections. But were my findings -remarkable though they seemed - nothing more than mere coincidence? Were the connections I was finding simply due to random chance?
After many months of continuous work I had amassed a huge file of data and the more I looked at it the more I leaned toward the idea that this was not all just the result of lucky tosses of the dice. It seemed like something else was going on here, something involving that very special form of "coincidence" that the famous Swiss psychologist, Carl Jung, called "synchronicity". That seemed to make a lot of sense on an intuitive level but I was still left with a nagging question: How can the results of this work be explained?
As I continued to develop this work my research took me in many directions where I encountered several intriguing concepts, one of which was sacred geometry. And therein lay the answer to my question. At the very least it served as a springboard by which I was able to launch into an attempt at developing an explanation of how and why this phenomenon was occurring. Here, then, is what I have come up with at this point in the process:
Toward a Rational Explanation
When the universe began it started from nothing. Essentially the "zero point". As it evolved it began to take shape. Shape is form. Form is geometry.
GEOMETRY = 108 = 9
Geometry, by its very nature, incorporates what we call number.
Number is the language we use to describe and/or explain geometric form.
For example, the triangle is the first geometric form. That is to say, one point in space does not create a shape or form. Two points in space can be connected by a line. But that only creates a line and does not create a shape or form. Three points in space can be connected by a line and this does create a shape, the triangle, and the first geometric shape or form. Therefore, the number 3 describes the first geometric form.
Again, number is the language we use to describe and/or explain geometric form.
What is language? Language is a tool for communicating information.
Another type of language is spoken language.
"Spoken" implies "words". The words are tools for communicating information. In order to preserve our words (reflecting our thoughts and ideas), we use a written language. The written language is a reflection of our spoken language.
Alphabets are organized systems of letters (the symbols we use to form the words). The letters of the alphabet are what we use to write the words, in order to convey and preserve our thoughts and ideas.
We see, then, that numbers and alphabets perform essentially the same function. They are intimately connected. They are both communication devices. This connection is enhanced when we combine them by assigning the numbers to the letters of the alphabet. This is the basis of the ancient art of divination known as gematria. Some ancient language systems, such as Hebrew, virtually made no distinction between the letters of their alphabet and the numbers used for counting and other mathematical functions. In other words the same written symbol was used to portray both a number and a letter. Each letter of the alphabet was also a number and vice versa.
Clearly, then, we now see the intimate connection between number and letter.
If we consider the development of language as part and parcel of the evolution of the divine creation as a whole (i.e., the universe or even "multiverse", as the case may be) then we understand further the direct interrelationship between numbers and language. Therefore, we have at least a partial explanation for how and why gematria (or in the case of the English alphabet, I use the term "CryptoNumerology") works. The words are connected to the numbers, which are, in turn, representations of the universe (or Multiverse) or the divine creation as a whole.
The reason the number 9 is a key to understanding this connection may relate back to the number "3", the first number to emanate from geometric form. Three 3s gives us the number 9. In mathematics this is called three squared, or 3 times itself. Here is an interesting example of this process showing us what might be called a proof of this concept:
Using the addition function:
3+3 = 6
Then, one more step, 6+3 = 9.
Or, put another way:
3+3+3 = 9.
Now, to go even deeper, we can apply the multiplication function to the numbers we have just produced, which are 3, 6 and 9. (This might be thought of as the "universal triangle". UNIVERSAL TRIANGLE = 207 = 9). (Also interesting is this: THE VIBRATIONAL FREQUENCY OF NINE = 333, [3+3+3=9])
Now, using multiplication:
3x6x9 = 162 = 9
Next, using our alphabet, we convert the numerical symbols (162) into words and calculate the alphanumeric value of the words:
ONE SIX TWO = 144
Why is this significant? Because of the following "encrypted" clues:
NINE IS THE KEY = 144 = THE SECRET KEY
THE ALPHANUMBER = 144
The number 144 has been associated with the concept of light by many esoteric researchers and even turned out to be the case in the more "scientific" work of Bruce Cathie (see his book, The Harmonic Conquest Of Space, for example).
This fits nicely with our present discussion as we find that the alphanumeric value of the word THREE is 56, the same as the alphanumeric value of the word LIGHT.
THREE = 56 = LIGHT
Keeping this in mind, and going back to our discussion about 3 squared and the importance of the number 9, we find yet another "encrypted" clue:
NINE IS LIGHT = 126
ONE TWO SIX = 144
(once again, the result is the Light number)
Are these examples merely meaningless coincidence? Or are they more than that? Are they, perhaps, what we might call alphanumeric synchronicities? Synchronicity - as coined and described by the renowned Swiss psychologist, Carl Jung - is the ultimate coincidence. Synchronicity, according to Jung, is "meaningful coincidence". The concept implies an interconnection between the inner world of human consciousness and the outer world of the greater universe. This brings us to another Jungian concept, that of archetype.
An archetype might be described as a fundamental form existing in the invisible world of the collective unconscious (another Jungian term). Or perhaps an even better description would be to say an archetype is a cosmic blueprint underlying the form. In terms of our present discussion, we might say the set of numbers identified as 3-6-9 are symbolic representations of the archetype (or blueprint) of the essence of our universe, i.e., of Creation at the fundamental level.
So how is it that the English alphabet (in its currently evolved form) seems to work so well in terms of producing alphanumeric synchronicities among case-related words and phrases? The answer may be due to the fact that the numerical value of 9 is embedded within the very structure of the alphabet. I found this to be true when I basically folded our 26-letter alphabet in half (by the way, HALF=27=9) between the two middle letters, M and N. This resulted in 13 pairs of letters (and by the way, THIRTEEN=99=18=9).
A good way to understand this is to imagine the letters of the alphabet written along a strand of ribbon, for example. Then simply fold the ribbon in half, between the M and the N, and bring the two ends together. Now you see A pairs up with Z. The letter B pairs up with Y, and so on. Here are the 13 combinations (with their combined alphanumeric values):

The alphanumeric sum of each pair of letters is 27. This number reduces to the single digit of 9 by what is called "cross adding"; in other words, adding the two digits together: 2+7=9. This inclusion of the number 27 (and therefore, the root 9) within the structure of the alphabet may be an "artifact", if you will, of the connection between our alphabet and the archetypal realm of what Jung called the Collective Unconscious or what I prefer to think of as the Universal Consciousness, or what might even be thought of as the great Cosmic Sea of All That Is.
THE BEGINNING AND THE END = 189 = 18 = 9
ALL THAT IS AND IS NOT = 198 = 18 = 9
189 + 198 = 387 = 18 = 9
THREE EIGHT SEVEN = 170
As an aside to this discussion, you'll notice 170 does not reduce to 9. However, the number 170 does have a significant place in the system because the words THREE
, and EIGHT
happen to be the third set of "AlphaNumbers" in what I call the "AlphaNumber Table" (a full explanation and analysis of this table can be seen on my web page:
Essentially, the "AlphaNumber Table" is the numbers 0 through 9 converted into words, which are categorized into sets, i.e. each set is identified by the number of letters in each of the words. For example, the words ONE, TWO, and SIX each consist of three letters and therefore comprise a set called the 3-Letter Set.
The AlphaNumber Table:
Returning to the number 9 and the alphabet connection, notice the number 27 (the sum of the letter pairs) again. As mentioned earlier, 27 is the alphanumeric value of the word HALF, which relates directly to the process of folding the alphabet in half in order to reveal this embedded number. It may be considered that the alphabet, in its current form, is a tool for extracting archetypal information embedded deep within the words and phrases produced by the letters of the alphabet. If so, this implies the concept of a "code".
Is it then just coincidence that the alphanumeric value of the word CODE is also 27?
CODE = 27
Let's now refer back to a previously stated assumption:
When the universe began, it started from nothing,
this is essentially represents "The Zero Point."
This, too, reveals more alphanumeric synchronicity:
THE ZERO POINT = 171
171 = POSITIVE LIGHT
Furthermore, notice that 171=9 and the phrase POSITIVE LIGHT brings us back again to this:
NINE IS THE KEY = 144,
144 is a number esoterically associated with the concept of Light. And this:
LIGHT OF CREATION = 162
(Or the reverse, CREATION OF LIGHT)
And, as noted earlier, ONE SIX TWO = 144 (the "Light" number).
Now if the zero point was the point of the creation of Light, we can see this reflected in the alphanumerics:
THE ZERO POINT (171) + CREATION OF LIGHT (162) = 333
Notice 171 and 162 and 144 each reduce to the single digit value of 9. And 333, as shown earlier, is the alphanumeric value of the phrase,
"THE VIBRATIONAL FREQUENCY OF NINE."

Over the past several years I've discovered much more evidence of this kind to support the idea that our English alphabet, in its current form, may be an encrypted tool, which can be used to reveal information deeply embedded (or "encoded") within certain case-related words and phrases. The mechanism enabling this process to work may be the number 9 or, more accurately, the vibrational frequency of that number and its intimate connection with the archetypal realm of the blueprint of the universe or, again, perhaps more accurately, the multiverse:
MULTIVERSE = 144 = 9
BLUEPRINT OF THE MULTIVERSE = 315 = 9
THE MULTIVERSE IS LIGHT = 261 = 9
TWO SIX ONE = 144 = 9
As long as we're this far outside the box of conventional thinking, let's take it a step further by suggesting all of this might be somehow generated from a computer.
THE COMPUTER = 144 = 9
THE COMPUTER CODE = 171 = 9
ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY ONE = 252 = ONE HUNDRED FORTY FOUR (252 = 9)
THE DIVINE COMPUTER = 207 = THE CODE KEY OF CREATION (207 = 9)
THE DIVINE COMPUTER CODE = 234 = 9
THE DIVINE COMPUTER CODE OF THE MULTIVERSE = 432 = 9
If what I've presented in this paper is, indeed, a reflection of something beyond mere meaningless coincidence then it nearly falls into the category of "miracle." Certainly the whole idea resides at the very edge of credibility in terms of conventional thinking. But, as Shakespeare once penned:
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy".
