Esoteric Online

There are some things that need to be said, and since I'm already the community designated, evil, overlord, asshole here, I'll say it myself. As many of you know, my financial situation recently required the community come together and cover the monthly costs of the community for the first time - in this endeavor, the community was unsuccessful and was only able to cover about 2/3 of our operating costs. I've done this for 4 years, I'm not rich, and it hasn't been easy, I only asked that we be able to cover this once as a community to help me through a real rough time for me having lost my job. This could be termed "real life", although it is provided on the Internet and individuals have the ability to remain for the most part anonymous, there are real people behind each keyboard, real people working at a job in order to make money, to cover real costs that are required for the operation of our great community. My internet got shut off, and was days away from losing my electricity/heat/water, and was fortunate enough to be blessed with family that provided me with meals when hungry.

So when the community bills were due and April ended a week ago, a decision had to be made, in order to slim some of our costs in order to keep the core community online - and hence the additional Library hosting could not be paid, and needed to be taken offline. This conservation of resources and slimming down was for the past week (7 days), in which a bold message was provided to those attempting access the Library: "Due to lack of contributions to the costs of providing the digital library, it is no longer available. If you would like to see it return, consider making a donation." along with a link to the details as to our operating costs, current status, and method to contribute - .

It was during this past week, that several of you contacted myself, managers and others in chat and comments, asking what had happened to the library, and when it would be back up. We really are not dealing with rocket science here, but rather simple human condition, bold Virgo honesty, and English language as to the situation. Some community members went to the point to send me emails, complaining that they were not able to download additional books, and went as far as asking for special concessions to be able to continue downloading - while at the same time, not being one who has actually donated to the costs.

Try and think if it's fair for you to expect and react in such a manner, when there are individuals who have indeed donated - in this past week when hundreds of community members visited the Library, seeing the message about why it was currently unavailable, knowing of the link to help it become available once again, and not a single person had the conscience to do so, not even $1 (you know, those 4 quarters in your couch cushion, or 10 dimes jingling in your pocket). So give yourself a pat of the back for the reciprocation of more than $10,000 coming out of my pocket over the past 4 years so you can communicate with like-minds/hearts, learn the sacred sciences, and download e-books

Please try to look inside yourself, and contemplate if you are one of the individuals who thought to yourself "Oh well, I'll just wait for someone else to donate, and check back later to start downloading again, once other people contribute enough for the Library to be available to me". Guilt trip? Most certainly. Are you taking what I have said personally? Perhaps you should. Because I'll let you in on a little secret, if yourself or  other people are like that, no one donates, ever. It's kind of like when everyone standing around while someone gets robbed or drowns, waiting for someone else to step up and save them

That being said, to everyone who didn't care enough to ever say or ask anything to me about my difficult situation, don't worry. I have spent a stressful two weeks in interviews, and having found a job, I will be that "someone" for you again. Your waiting succeeded, and you only had to be inconvenienced for a week and can continue your downloading again - enjoy the 7,311 books that community rock-star Blessed has worked tirelessly to manage for you, and hope it's still as easy to look in a mirror. I apologize that there isn't a "dis-like" button you can use on this post, and no I'm not going to create one.

Thank you everyone for your kind words of support, and all of your efforts, for the first time in our community's existence, we have covered our expenses as a community - and then some! This really goes to show the power of community when we exist and act as one to accomplish a goal, my heart is truly warmed by what I have just witnessed.

Please have a look at my blog response:

And newly updated community operations page:

Again, thanks for all of your personal support, and for coming together as one to support the community.

What bothers me the most are the people who say they are open minded, awake, aware, and blah blah blah....and yet do nothing to help keep this site going. I was hoping that more of you were like the people I was hoping to find on here, and I have found a few, but just not enough to restore my faith in humanity. I take responsibility for the way I feel, not a problem.

IF all the people on here had just contributed a few dollars, or did so on a regular basis, then Tris and the others would not have to pay out of pocket for YOUR privilege to be on this site.

Buck up buttercups! You want this site ad library to stay open? Then donate for the privilege, not right, to be here.

Thank you Tris for creating and maintaining this site with the help of the few people who really care. And thank you to the people who help you. If you need me just let me know. I'm only a click or two away.

Thank you! So glad to be a part of this community, and I am so sorry to hear of your misfortune. I believe you have made excellent points that I myself believe in severely. This is a community, and if we expect to have access to the information we should be more willing to give monetarily to keep the community running. That is what true communism is about, being willing to give from your own resources to help the community (personal opinion). I just donated, and I have one question which I would be very greatful if someone could answer, as I am new, I hope it is not an obvious question. But, what is the Luxor Group, LLC?

Tris, your dedication is beyond any other I have seen and if anyone that subscribes to this site does not realize this than that is their problem. I personally know that you have gone without for the sake of this site and know how much work you and those that stand by your side have put into it. Perhaps this site should go to a pay-per-view or membership only, then the only ones that would get the pleasure are those that really care enough to reach into their pockets to offer value for value. Congrats on the new job! I am so very happy for you!

I've just scrubbed my first response as it was something of a diatribe against people who expect something for nothing. It got it out of my system but wasn't really a positive contribution to the topic, and anyway the people it applied to probably wouldn't bother to read it.

I agree with Norma - it would be the best value for $1 you could find anywhere! If you can afford to be online you can certainly afford $1 a month.

So glad you've found another job, but the time has come for you to stop carrying this on your own. If we lose some members who are too selfish to express appreciation for this amazing website then we're better off without that sort of energy around anyway.

You get what you give so come on folks, let's pull together on this. Like anki said, we're a 'family' and when the chips are down families pull together. We've taken Tris's dedication for granted and it's time to rectify that.

Big love and thanks to you Tris.

im glad ur doing better now, yes i was asked a few times in the period where is the library when its right there in bolded letters where and there been multiple blogs about the problem.

i think we are a family and should be there when someone needs us. just like if ur sister is sick ud go with to hospital even if its not convenient  thats what family or community if u will is for. to be there when someone needs u, not when its convenient to u.

i just feel we need some better togetherness.  :) i think is great that u r so open and honest with this all. honesty is needed. its very easy to smile and fake it.

namaste friend.
