I am retiring from the occult.  I will still study it a little perhaps be a part of this community but being a wizzard seems to be too much of a responsibility the wholeness of the law is too much and I will just practice tibetan buddhist tantra meditation mantra and energy work.  I don't know what else to say I loved the occult never did anything or became anything big but I think its the right thing to do.

You may be able to retire consciously from the occult, but your life will still be immersed in it, whether you choose to be conscious of it or not. Every time you plan the future, you are participating in the occult. Planning ahead is essentially changing the future is it not? Anyways, Tibetan buddhist tantra meditation is essentially an occult exercise..perhaps you mean you are retiring from western esoteric traditions and philosophies?

Beware of lumping things into categories. Its the same as stereotyping different genres of music. Although we all may dislike a particular genre, theres always one song that comes along that is an exception to that rule. Its the same with the occult. Some books are atrocious, some are great. I wish you the best of luck in your practices.

Sometimes, in all mystical practices it is best to focus on one area at a time, and I am sure that you will find something new which develops into something that hold power for you- Good Luck with your research and work friend.

hi sklyer

sounds like youve given this some thought.  I can understand how the occult can seem so overwhelming and vastly complex.  I too turned to buddhism at one point many years ago and through it found a compassion and a patience, and most of all an incredible sense of unconditional love, that I had not found in my studies on hermetic magick.  However many years later, after several or more diversions into other areas of magick and spirituality I did rerturn to hermetics and found alli had learnt before came together and merged, and I have been able to use whaat works for me and leave what did not from all spiritual and magickal systems I have studied.

Everthing is connected! Everything overlaps and blends. Man has divided, seperated and categorised all the teachings and wisdom into religions, paths and schools of magic or spirituality, but in truth they all speak of the same things in different words.  They provide many different maps of the same territory.

Occult simply means hidden, so really, as I assume at some point you have comitted yourself to unraveling the mystery of all that is, you will never truly stop your studies in the occult mysteriess.  Instead, as we found also, that there is a hidden or occult aspect to all things, and bhuddiesm, tantra, meditation are all intertwined and are just as powerful and deep as any hermetic or other magical path.

So im certain you will find your decision to focus your work in such a way highly beneficcal and discover a reignitd passion to enaage with the work of self exxpansion and growth.  You will no doubt soon find that there is no better work,no really any other work, than the work we do on self.  So with realesed pressure to be something you view as onerous and difficlut I wish you well on your journey with gladness in my heart, as I am certain you are one step closer to that expanded and deeper undersstanding you seek;  the knowledge of who you are, what we are and what youre here to do.

LoVeX,

Sareyan
