Growing up in a Christian community, and after graduating from a Christian College my views, without a doubt, on religion have changed.

Religion keeps a person in this nice neat little box; teaching its followers that their way is the only way and demonizing other religions. That was enough for me just to take a step back and go on my own journey reviewing some of the sacred text of major world religions. Especially those that were demonized or classified as heresy. Sacred texts of all religions are the best way to learn about our spirituality and purpose based on the traditions of others and their understanding of universal truth, not listening to a man’s opinion and interpretation from a pulpit.

Interpretation of the message has been religion’s downfall. The message has been lost through scribes and man’s translation. Instead of uniting, religion tend to divide. Many sacred texts make exclusive claims about God, reality and salvation. Followers become entrenched in the belief system and never seek the truth outside that box or trap.

As an example, in my research, in the Old Testament, Moses attempted to make Yahweh supreme Deity when presenting him as the “God of truth, just and right in all his ways.” Despite these teachings, there was limited understanding of his followers making it necessary to speak of God as being in man’s image as being subject to fits of anger, wrath and severity, even vengeful and easily influenced by man’s conduct. Jesus was sent to correct this misunderstanding, resulting in his crucifixion. Afterwards, a new religion emerged and the struggle over orthodoxy, resulted in the Christian religion today. Other Christian’s beliefs were wiped out and labeled heresy. Many scared text were destroyed but some were hidden, including some of the Gnostics sacred texts.

In 1945, over fifty texts, were discovered in upper Egypt and are now in the Nag Hammadi Library. Jew and Christians alike believe humanity and God are separate. But the discovery of sacred ancient texts contradict this teaching; (1) self-knowledge is knowledge of God and the self and the divine are one. (2)The Jesus of these texts speaks of illusion and enlightenment, not sin and repentance like the Jesus in the New Testament. Instead of saving us from sin he comes as a guide to help with spiritual understanding and serves as a spiritual master. (3) Orthodox Christians believe Jesus is Lord and Son of God in a unique way; he forever remains distinct from the rest of humanity since he came to save. In the Gospel of Thomas, Thomas recognizes him and Jesus says to Thomas that they have both received their being from the same source. Jesus said to his disciples, "Compare me to someone and tell me whom I am like." Simon Peter said to him, "You are like a righteous angel." Matthew said to him, "You are like a wise philosopher." Thomas said to him, "Master, my mouth is wholly incapable of saying whom you are like." Jesus said, "I am not your master. Because you have drunk, you have become intoxicated from the bubbling spring which I have measured out."

Perhaps as a spiritual guide, Jesus was learning from the Buddha and Hindu traditions. Jesus said in Matthew 6:22 “ The eye is the lamp of the body. If your vision is clear, your whole body will be full of light.” The eye is the lamp of the body, also known as the third eye, the sixth Chakra. This Chakra, if the vision is clear, receives the Intelligent Energy from God. These energies pour or stream down into the individual’s body, mind and spirit. Though meditation the Gateway will open to discover our true selves.

One of the most interesting and informative contact was The Law of One, stating there is only one, and that one is the Infinite Creator. The Contact was made with the three members of the L/L research, Don Elkins, a former Physics Professor and Airline pilot, Carla Rueckert, a devoted Christian; , and James McCarty, the sole survivor today. The contact was made by, what they believed was an advanced extraterrestrial from the 6th dimension. The contact was made so the group could ask questions and answers were given. The group recorded and documented over 2360 questions and answers in 106 sessions from 1981 to 1984. Answers were given in a scientific and metaphysical vocabulary. It is available for anyone with the will and desire to study the advanced spiritual teachings. Not only does the Law of One provide spiritual insight but it may also provide a better understanding of the world we live in today. Regardless of your beliefs or religion, the Law of One resonates with religions and beliefs systems worldwide. Consider that UFO’s were also referenced in the Bible and the Vedas.

I believe there is some truth in all religions, but no religion has all the truth. Each person should seek and discover for themselves. Enjoy your journey.

After observing the 'benefits' that humanity's Religions have brought to our current world and investigating several of them from a distance it is my belief that following someone else's idea of God is not of benefit to many - if any - other than those who run the Religion, who gain in wealth and power from doing so. God is One with His Creations. He is perfectly able to communicate with what effectively are pieces of Himself without the 'aid' of intermediaries who claim to know the 'one true' God.

This is not to say that anyone cannot learn something about God from watching or observing another and what they think, say and do. (Mind, Word, Being). For those who consider themselves as Christians then Jesus would be a Perfect example of such a one we might learn things of value from, by actually doing, thinking and feeling (and saying) what He did (exactly as He asked His followers to do). Just saying you follow Him is not the same thing as doing it.

I believe it is the Truth that knowledge of the real self brings you closer to God and that the self and the Divine are One with each other, but are not equal to each other in scale.

I don't see Jesus as learning FROM the earlier traditions but that He and the earlier beliefs and their developers 'drank from the same well' as the Bible might have put it.

The water from that well is ever present to us all - it is up to each one of us how or if we drink from it. Each one of us is an individual and unique being, free to live as we please and being part of the One that is All, learning what each one of us most needs to learn as it is given to us to understand and ingest into our being.

God is within you <3
