Leonard Cohen.  1934 - 2016

Newport Folk Festival 1967 with Arlo Guthrie, 1967

Ring the bells that still can ring.

Forget your perfect offering.

There's a crack in everything;

that's how the light gets in.

I did my best, it wasn’t much.

I couldn’t feel, so I tried to touch.

I told the truth, I didn’t come to fool you.

And even though it all went wrong,

I’ll stand before the Lord of Song,

with nothing on my tongue

                   but Hallelujah…

Nice to go back and listen to the original from the master himself.  Just just what I needed this morning.  Love and blessings.

Blessed are the cracked, for though them the light shall shine.

Thanks for the correction, Snodoc AND.  You're quite right; I'll edit the post to reflect your input.  Peace.

Beautiful quotes. As a writer and troubadour, it feels shallow to add any words at his passing.

However, that is Arlo Guthrie, not Bob Dylan, in the lovely 1967 photograph. Blessings from North Bennington. Vermont.
