This is a picture of the mind of man, the conscious - red (sun), The unconscious, blue (moon), the third head is the subconscious, the intuitive (wise) mind, that is awakened by looking between the latter two.  However we are still stuck in the physical body, and need to tame, and control these Siamese triplets, dwelling within each of us. 

Drawings were not metaphoric, they are writing in the language of symbolism, to share information through a public source of publication.  They look pretty, but those who can understand then...  Understand the overwhelming insight they provide.

I just saw a partial image that as pulled from an alchemical drawing. It is hands reaching from clouds, clasped, with flames rising from them. Anybody know the source?

I am just wondering about the significance of the 2 headed dragon. I have noticed it a lot and I know it represents different things in different countries. Makes it confusing for a novice like me!
