Title says it all. Though shadow work is done mostly in solitary, i feel a group setting may be usefull. There will be a little discussion on what shadow work is, though the focus will be on practical work and discussion of it.
All who are firstly honest and secondly willing to explore/share/work with the repressed parts of their psyche are welcome. Hope to hear from you soon if this sounds beneficial.

In this essay, Gerrit explores the consequences of a non-linear notion of time for the field of regression therapy. He argues that getting in touch with other lives is not so much about remembering something that is over and done with. Rather, it is…Continue

It would be my opinion, a strong tool for exposing the shadow is peripheral -that is to say= writing on topics you know little about, the response that comes from others isn't just revealing, for your ignorance in that topic, it can shed light on…Continue

When you were little, were you afraid of the dark? Most of us were. And I doubt we ever thought to question this fear. We were almost naturally taught to be afraid of the dark, because the dark is full of unknown things that might hurt us.But what…Continue

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your advice. Have been reading some of Jung and his theories. Using the integral 321 approach when needed. Using the archetypes to help sort who's who and who's missing. Haven't looked into alchemy at all so will focus my attention there next. In my drawings and visualisation the characters/creatures, once found, are being "tamed" , one is now like a dog on a leash, another another a rag doll. Am I doing the right thing?
Would love to communicate more, Have self taught till now, am in need of wise words! Was contemplating contacting a specialist in shadow work for some objectivity, just not plucked up the courage to make an appointment!
Thank you again for your kind words. Very reassuring.
Love to you.
Suzanne,
The drawing that you are doing is a wonderful and powerful tool to use. The first stage of the shadow entering consciousness is always characterized by darkness and danger. You can consult Alchemy about the Prima Materia to see this clearly. But it is also a wonderful time. There is a universal pattern of a dark figures appearing at the beginning of the work. You may also experience a 'flood'. That occurs often when the uncconscious breaks out into the conscious, as it happening to you now. The bizzare creatures have mythic content. It may be helpful for you to discover that content. A book on world mythology might be a useful starting source, if you don't yet have a sense from where this might be arising. I would also recommend to you the work of Carl Jung about the shadow. There is a good resource - a collection of essays - called Meeting the Shadow that I would also recommend. Please remember the esoteric traditions teach us that enlightenment comes from the dark. All blessings to you. Let me know if I can be of any service to you.
Afternoon....pleased to meet you all.
discovered shadow work a few weeks ago. Been having s great/awful time with it as I suspect is the way of it and looking to chat to others about their experiences, hopefully get some tips from those with more experience.
I found writing the experiences too awkward and limiting so have discovered drawing. Bizzare creatures coming out! Anyone out there found any useful tools?
Antonio-
in regards to your comment --interesting! ive been considering an Alter for quite a while. can you share more about how you use your alter? do you have any "dark "shadow" tokens" that you use also?
hi-
i think i have done this for most of my life.
this is the first time ive heard of "shadow work" though.
looking forward!
Thank You
very good idea.
Shaman,
The 'Shadow' appears in many different ways. We can easily see it operating in myth and folklore as the figures left out, on the periphery, forgotten, enemies, dark creatures, etc. who return seemingly to cause problems. It is often much harder hard to see it in ourselves - it is what we don't want to see and what our religious and social conditioning teaches us to fear and avoid. We push it aside, repress it, use our 'ideas' to keep it away. That may include sincere spiritual practices - it is important to look there also with careful observation.
The more shadow is pushed away, the more powerful it becomes. We must finally consider it to be the energy and psychic content that we need for wholeness and health. We, however, demonize it. Yet, it is vital to true spiritual progress that it be 'allowed' in - even welcomed. It typically emerges in our dreams as an 'enemy' or a foreigner, persecutor, negative authority figure, someone who threatens, a thief, etc. so many guises.
The illustrations on this page demonstrate that the shadow has two important aspects. It contains both 'personal' content - having to do with our unique life history in this incarnation. This personal content is normally related to our ego structure. But also'collective' content - the mytho-historical context we live within as a member of society. They are not separate, however, because the personal content is connected to the collective views and, those collective view substantially shape where the shadow is 'projected'.
To work with shadow, we must experience very deep and abiding love and extend that love to those we find difficult to love. Any failure to love means that there is fear and where there is fear, we experience shadow. We need remember that everything is God . . . the Devil card of the Tarot teaches us that we need to free ourselves from the false ideas given to us by religion, family and society. This energy needs to be integrated. . . not disowned. Hope this helps a little. Love and Blessings
Dear Friend,
Your Subtle body is also your shadow....
And your self and the Higher self are also the shadows of our Spiritual progress....which can help in connecting with the original source...
